Sustainable Poppy Project
Cisco - and Rosie, Mrs Smith's daughter who works there - are working with us to create a sustainable poppy installation for Remembrance Day inspired by the Blood Swept Lands installation at the Tower of London to commemorate the WW1 Centenary in 2014.
We are asking students (and their parents/ guardians/ grandparents!) to knit, crochet, or felt as many poppies as they can which will then be fastened to chicken wire and displayed in Reception.
If you haven't knitted before, have no fear! Rosie has put together four films to show you how to knit the poppies, but you can also crochet or felt one too (see last two films). The Cisco Crafters will be making their poppies and sending them to us for inclusion in the installation. A full list of links and supplies can be found here.
The Creative Arts Department will be holding drop-in sessions to show you how to create the poppies, more details to follow.
We would like all the poppies finished by the first Tuesday after half-term (2nd November). So pick up those needles, hooks, and scissors and let's get creating!
