Blackman - follow us on Insta!

Malorie Blackman OBE is a British writer and Children's Laureate (2013 to 2015). She has been influential in a number of fields, including the music industry where her writing about modern-day social problems has inspired the lyrics of rapper Stormzy!  Watch the message she filmed for us when we made launched the House name change!

Hi! My name is Emma and I am so excited to be one of new Heads of House for Blackman. I currently study History, Politics and Chemistry and I also manage Young Enterprise and play tennis and music outside of school.

Rosie and I can’t wait to start organising more competitions, presenting assemblies, motivating Blackman House to be the best it can be, and of course, having fun! I wanted to be Head of House as I thrive in leadership roles, I love working in a team and making sure people have as much fun as they can. I am thrilled to be in this position and can’t wait to get started!

Hello! My name is Rosie and I am one of the Heads of Blackman House. For A-Level, I am studying History, Psychology and Business.

Since Year 7, I have always wanted to be a Head of House, so I am excited to now have the opportunity to motivate the students in my House, to try different activities, discover new passions, and to enter into the House spirit, all whilst maintaining a friendly, but competitive edge.

I can’t wait to bring new ideas to the House whilst building upon the legacy that those before me have created. I am most looking forward to Sports Day as it is the perfect occasion to really embrace the House spirit by wearing a big inflatable costume, chanting the House song, and encouraging the Blackman House to victory! Finally, one fun fact about me is that I have climbed one of the world’s largest sand dunes in Namibia - it was an experience I will never forget.
