    Latest News and Opportunities

    • (11/10) Deloitte (finance, tech and consultancy) are accepting applications for their degree apprenticeship programmes here.
    • (10/10) KPMG (global accounting and consulting) are holding a virtual meeting designed to help with the apprenticeship application process. this takes place on 18th November at 6pm. Register here
    • Buckinghamshire Skills Hub has published their October newsletter, Classroom to Careers, find it here
    • (4/10) BDO (accountancy and consulting firm) are hosting a virtual information event for Y11-13 on Thursday 10th OctoberHear directly from BDO professionals about their experiences and career journeys. Learn about BDO’s renowned school-leaver programs, apprenticeships, work experience and graduate roles. Apply to in-person events BDO will be hosting across the UK as well as their work experience schemes.     • (4/10) Pinewood Futures Festival (Screen industry careers fair) will take place on 28th February and 1st March next year. Tickets are released on Monday at 12 noon here: 28th February and 1st March

    September's Careers Insight celebrates International Talk like a Pirate day by looking at (anti-)piracy and maritime jobs.

     

     

    • (10/9) BP Collins, solicitors with offices in Gerrards Cross are offering A level students interested in Law the opportunity to attend an Insight day at their offices on 31st October (in half term). Register here
    • (1/7) A wide range of virtual work experience opportunities are available (for free) on the Springpod website, great to find out more about companies and careers.

    Useful Websites

    Unifrog A careers platform used in school, every student has a login.
    Prospects A great website, funded, but independent of, UK universities, offering lots of information on graduate jobs. Use the search tool to ask "what can I do with my X degree" and it will provide up-to-date and well-written information with lots of other links. 
     The Times Top 100 Graduate Employers Report and Highfliers Graduate Labour Market Report  Includes useful information about graduate recruitment.
    Investin Offers paid for university and work experiences, they have just started a careers podcast
    The National Career Service A useful website that offers one-to-one advice to anyone over the age of 16. 
    Springpod Offers lots of virtual work experience opportunities (for free). 
     The Sutton Trust Offers summer schools and support for applicants who want to study at competitive universities or apply for degree apprentices with the aim of improving social mobility. 

    Apprenticeships

     

    The Government's apprentice listing website Surprisingly useful!
    Amazing Apprenticeships They have published the January Higher and Degree Apprenticeship listing with a huge variety of roles being advertised. 
    Amazing Apprenticeships They publish a bi-annual listing of higher and degree apprenticeships.
    NotGoingToUni This website lists a variety of apprenticeship vacancies.
    solicitor apprenticeships A good place to start your search for solicitor apprenticeships.

    Gap Year

    Some useful advice and further information on gap years on the UCAS website. 

    Local FE (16-18) Colleges

    Students have a wide variety of options after Year 11. As well as A-Levels at school sixth forms and local colleges, Level 3 BTEC and T level qualifications are offered locally at the colleges below. Students can also apply for Intermediate and Advanced Apprenticeships.  

    University

    UCAS is used to apply for university but it is also a database of every course in the UK, so great for researching. It also provides a wide range of useful information on courses, contextual offers etc. 

    Student Finance Information on student finance (tuition fees and loans).
    NHS Bursary For medicine and dental students.
    NHS Learning Support Fund For nursing, midwifery and other allied health professional students (inc physio, SALT etc).
    UKCISA Website providing good advice on university fee status for international students.
    UniTasterdays.com A very comprehensive guide to university.
