  • Business

Business is taught at GCSE and A-Level. We study business to develop an awareness and natural curiosity of the business and economic environment around us. To have a deeper understanding of the businesses that some of our students will work for or lead, and the key driving factors and inhibitors that impact the environment, and to learn how to manage current and future financial capability in the short, medium and long term.

Business introduces students to the dynamics of how a business is set up and organised. It enables them to enhance their ability to enter the world of work within a wide range of business organisations. The course also provides valuable opportunities to develop key skills such as ICT, maths, team work and communication, as well as developing confidence and interpersonal skills.

How does A-Level Business differ from A-Level Economics?

Business Studies is a practical subject that examines how a business operates internally and on a global level.  It is set in the context of current business development and real business situations. Economics is a more theoretical subject that looks at how individuals, businesses, and nations make economic decisions at a micro and macro level. Both require a genuine interest in current affairs.
