What Our Students Say

A day in the life…

Your day will start when you meet up with friends in our dedicated Sixth Form common room area. If it’s a Friday you’ll also be enjoying a Sixth Form perk – dress down – so you can wear clothes that truly reflect your style.

We do our very best to welcome new students. The induction days and tours give us the chance to get to know each other, and make the first day far more comfortable – and exciting!

Lessons begin at 9:10 after tutor time but, depending on what A-Levels you’ve chosen, you might be heading to our Sixth Form study space for some quiet time to research on your laptop, or for interactive brainstorming with your subject peers in our group study room.

If you’ve taken a Science A-Level you’ll later be donning your white coat and experimenting using the latest equipment in our University-grade laboratories.

Perhaps you’ve signed up for Early Modern History, in which case you’ll be delving into the Witch craze in Britain, Europe and North America – that’s not something many Sixth Formers can say.

At lunchtime you might be leading our MUN Society, or taking part in rehearsals for our annual Dance show, before popping by to see Roger in the canteen for some wholesome, gastro-style food, plus the odd treat – Eton Mess, anyone?

One of the reasons students join our Sixth Form is because of the Learning Support team. Very few schools offer such attentive help. Students with learning difficulties are fully supported to achieve the best possible results.

Back to the classroom for some motivated learning, led by the most inspirational teachers Bucks has to offer. Further Maths in Period 5? It’s no problem for you, you thrive on expanding your mind! It’s all for a good cause anyway – your place at an Oxbridge college is there for the taking!

There are a range of leadership opportunities, including Prefect roles, work experience placements and student mentoring. It’s a great way to take on responsibility and develop important life skills.

You finish your day with indoor hockey practice in the Sports Hall ready for the big competition at the weekend. Being taught by Head of PE Miss McGonigle, who is also an accomplished hockey player and Captain in her own right, can only be good for your progression.

It’s non-stop at Becky High. Just the way you like it.
