We're TOP in the county across the board!

Remarkable girls’ grammar school Beaconsfield High School has become the top secondary state school for Buckinghamshire, as published in The Sunday Times’ Parent Power supplement.

A combination of scores from the 2017 A-Level and GCSE results placed the school 37th in the country, rising 22 places in the annual rankings. It outranked all other girls’ and boys’ grammar schools, including those that have previously placed higher in the rankings.

Strategic focus on teaching and learning, a dynamic, diverse and inclusive environment and an ethos of discovering and developing individual talent have all contributed to the students achieving record grades.

Headteacher Rachel Smith, who began with the school in April 2015, has spearheaded this approach, with the core value that happy students are successful students.

As previously reported, the school achieved 83% A*-B grades at A-Level, the highest in the county, and an impressive 64.9% A*/A/9/8/7 at GCSE.

Sixth Form students achieved an incredible 52.3% A-A* grades, the highest level the school has received in its 50 year history and, despite reforms to most A-Levels, an incredible 6% increase on 2016 results. At GCSE, the number of students achieving only the top grades (Levels 9/8 and A*/A) across their subjects is now at a remarkable 20%, a significant increase on 2016 results.

The school runs a variety of extra-curricular clubs and societies to enable its students even greater opportunities for learning and to challenge themselves. From Model United Nations and Economics Society, to dance classes and sporting teams, students are actively encouraged to participate and enrich their learning experiences.

Rachel Smith, Headteacher, comments: “To have ranked so highly in the national tables is such a fantastic outcome after a long period of change and evolution at the school. Our remarkable teaching staff, coupled with innovative approaches and enriched learning experiences, has seen the school improve year on year. I’m excited to see what the future brings, as we continue to strive to provide a varied, rounded, challenging and rewarding education for every single student.”

Beaconsfield High School dares to be remarkable, offering a unique and inspiring learning environment guaranteed to unlock a child’s future. Being part of Beaconsfield High School is an all-encompassing experience – whether as a student, staff member, parent or alumna – becoming part of the very fabric of our modern, diverse, inclusive and dynamic community.
