Students attend animal research lecture by Uni of Oxford professor
On Tuesday 13th March, students from Beaconsfield High School were invited to an after-school lecture on the use of animals in medical research, given by Professor Paul Bolan from the University of Oxford. The lecture was hosted by Wycombe Abbey School, and 8 of our students made their way there (tempted too, maybe, by the offer of pizza and ice cream refreshments…)
The students found the lecture very informative, covering areas such as research into the treatment of Parkinson’s disease, aspects of the legal framework governing animal research, as well as society’s general interaction with animals and the animal rights movement.
There were a great many questions after the talk, and several of our students stayed behind afterwards to speak to Professor Bolan personally.
