Sports Day sun, sweets and success!
Miss McGonigle, Head of PE
Sports Day was on Thursday 12th July and the students arrived full of house spirit in their new t-shirts and heads of house in some fantastic costumes.
With the 1500m and 800m kicking off the day we were straight into the action, with students pushing their bodies to the limit to achieve for their houses. The field events then consumed the rest of the morning until a lunch break allowed students to refuel before the afternoon events.
The afternoon kicked off with a very ferocious tug of war, which was won by Parks in the end. The track was then full of life all afternoon as the traditional 100m, hurdles, relay etc were all taking place as well as the fun events such as egg and spoon and skipping relay.
We pride ourselves on having an inclusive Sports Day, so that those who love to compete in the serious athletic events can and those who do not really see them as for them can enjoy the fun events with their friends - all while still contributing to their house totals.
At the end of the day the results were in and the winners of each year group were as follows:
Year 7- Rowling
Year 8- Rowling
Year 9- Rambert
Year 10- Rowling.
It seemed like it was going to be Rowling’s year and that it was - they were the overall winners followed by Parks in 2nd, Rambert in 3rd, Holmes in 4th, Bhutto in 5th and Hamilton in 6th!
It was a hugely successful day where all students engaged in the positive spirit of the day and also left the field in a clean state at the end - thank you so much. A big thank you to the staff who helped the event be possible as well.
