Sixth Form Induction Days are huge success!
Mrs K Ing – Sixth Form Manager
Last week we welcomed over 170 students, hoping to join the Sixth Form in September, for two Induction Days.
Current students were buddied with students joining us from other schools and went straight into taster lessons; an opportunity to experience Sixth Form teaching first hand. The opportunity to mingle, meet and break the ice was provided in the form of 'Speed Dating' (five minutes with each person, discussing everything from Brexit to Love Island) and an online team quiz about Beaconsfield High School.
The second day was spent team-building, with half the time spent outside with the Army leading physical and mental challenges and inside with the National Citizenship Service leading teams to build and race paper giraffes. The Army were astonished with the students' resourcefulness, one group completing one of the building challenges with a design "never seen before" and the NCS likewise, with one group choosing to disguise a team member as a giraffe rather than create an inanimate one, a decision which proved a poor one when the next challenge requires carrying it across a lava-filled lake!
Feedback from the days was overwhelmingly positive and we look forward to welcoming the students into our Sixth Form in September!
