Remarkable students celebrate fantastic set of A-level results!
Congrats to Year 13 who are celebrating an excellent set of A-level results today! In figures released this morning and for a second year running, 16% of grades were A* with students seeing an incredible increase in mathematics results with A* grades increasing by over 18% on last year.
Of the 8 students who applied for Oxbridge courses, 7 have achieved the required grades to take up their places.
Sarah Stevens, who was awarded the much-coveted emotive Scholarship for Scientific Engagement in June, has achieved exceptional results with 3 A*s and an A grade and will be going to her first-choice university, The University of York to study biology.
Of the many and varied courses including architecture, anthropology, M.O.R.S.E (maths, operational research, statistics and economics), midwifery, aeronautical engineering, visual effects for film and TV and animal behaviour, 9 students are going on to study medicine, 2 veterinary medicine and 2 dentistry. One student is also taking up a place at LSE to study politics; who knows, maybe our next Prime Minister?
4 students were awarded A*s in all 4 A-level examinations, 7 students gained 3 A* grades and 69% of the results were A* - B – a remarkable achievement bearing in mind the new A-levels are much more academically challenging.
‘Our students’ success is entirely their own! They work incredibly hard and are so determined to take on board the expert advice and guidance from our wonderful staff. I know they are very well placed for remarkable next steps whether it be university, higher level apprenticeships or a gap year for an adventure. Each student should be so proud of themselves and all that they have achieved; we have just helped them reach one of their dreams!’ - Mrs Smith
