GCSE results are cause for even more celebration!

Beaconsfield High School has reason to celebrate for the second week in a row after achieving some of the highest GCSE results in the county, despite the introduction of 20 new, more challenging GCSE examinations.

The number of A* grades achieved has increased by 12.61% on the previous year, with more than half of all the school’s GCSE exams taken topping the grade boundaries, while the number of A*-A grades has increased by 7.07% year-on-year, reaching an impressive 72.7%.

The average examination grade for all exams is an incredible A, while the school, which recently achieved Exceptional status (the equivalent of two Ofsted Outstanding scores), is delighted to report a 100% pass rate in English and Maths.

Two students (Astha Sanghavi and Lucy Alexander, pictured above) achieved the highest level attainable – Level 9 – across all of their exams, and a further 10 achieved just Level 9 and 8, which is the equivalent of A*. Thirty more students are celebrating after scoring Level 9 to Level 7 across all of their exams, meaning they achieved the equivalent of A* to A across their exams.

Rachel Smith, Headteacher, comments: “It’s a great day to be part of our remarkable community. Despite the challenges that we faced with the new format of GCSEs our students have shown determination, resilience and risk-taking to achieve their goals.

“A combination of excellent teaching, an intense and strategic programme of support and revision, and the roll out of our Getting Life Ready programme of personal development have all proven to be impactful tools in paving the way for our students’ next steps. I am so incredibly proud of their hard work.”

A total of 145 Year 11 students now have the required grades to enrol in the school’s Sixth Form, with tens more external applicants expected to opt for Beaconsfield High School as their first-choice to study at A-Level.
