The Secondary Transfer Test/ 11+

Students must complete the Secondary Transfer Test to be accepted into our school and this is administered by Buckinghamshire Council on behalf of all the Buckinghamshire Grammar Schools. Due to Coronavirus, testing days have changed:

  • 2 to 5 November 2020 - children attending Buckinghamshire primary schools and Partner schools.
  • 27 to 30 October 2020 - out of county children.

Out of County Schools

Children from out of county schools will take the practice and Secondary Transfer Tests at a Buckinghamshire grammar school between 27 and 30 October. You are not able to choose the dates on which your child will be tested.  Your child will be tested on either:

Tuesday 27 October 2020 - Practice Test

and Thursday 29 October 2020 - Secondary Transfer Test

Wednesday 28 October 2020 - Practice Test

and Friday 30 October 2020 - Secondary Transfer Test

If you booked a family holiday before 17 June 2020, you need to supply evidence to Buckinghamshire Council to show that the booking was made before this date, they will then be able to test your child later. Send evidence of booking immediately through the Contact Us form on the Buckinghamshire Council website.

The answers to a large number of frequently asked questions can also be found on the Buckinghamshire Grammar Schools website .

Who needs to register for the Secondary Transfer Test?

Children who attend a Buckinghamshire LA primary school are automatically registered and will sit the test in their current school. Children who attend Partner Schools needed to be registered for testing however, will sit the test in their current school.

Children who attend all other schools will need to be registered for testing, and will sit the test at central venues in Buckinghamshire.

Registration for the above closed on 25 June 2020.

Secondary Transfer Test Timeline for 2021 Entry

Children born between 1 September 2009 and 31 August 2010 will be moving up to secondary school in September 2021. The dates set so far for that academic year are as follows:-

It’s important you find out about the schools you are interested in before you decide to put them on your application. You can list up to six schools when you apply.
