What a Festive Fair!

Our Festive Fair & Fun Day (2nd Dec 2017) proved to be a Christmas-spirit filled extravaganza with ice rink, alpine huts, foodie treats, exquisite gifts and even guaranteed snow! We estimate a footfall of around 1,000 happy, excited children and adults, and we’re delighted to say the fundraising total from the day was…

£8,435.21!

All proceeds go to the #SaveOurAstro campaign so we’re edging a little closer to the £100,000 target – there is still a long way to go and we need your help!

In the meantime, for those who didn’t get to come along to our community event this year, here is the event magazine complete with alumna and Masterchef winner Saliha Mahmood Ahmed’s favourite festive one-pot dish, top tips on how to lay your Christmas table from Layered Lounge and even a guaranteed happiness baking recipe from Monicake! Enjoy!

Finally, we had just a few of our Christmas Competition and Classic Recipe cakes leftover from the day so our very kind parent volunteer Kate Vaughan organised with a friend to donate them to the following charities and organisations:

  • Betel is an independent Christian charity for men, women and families affected by drug and alcohol addiction and homelessness
  • Padstones provides shelter and support for young single homeless people aged 16-19
  • Shoc is a day centre that exists to provide care for the homeless in Slough and those at risk of becoming so
  • The London and Slough Run distributes items such as food, drink, clothing, bedding and toiletries to over three hundred people per week who come along to the various distribution points situated on the streets of London and Slough
  • And one lucky Big Issue seller who was beside himself with excitement and close to tears at the sight of his Christmas cake!
